Biography

Gaetano Di Mino is currently Associate Professor at the University of Palermo. Graduated cum laude in Civil Engineering with honorable mention of thesis, at University of Palermo, 1992. Ph.D in Urban planning and environmental design of transport infrastructures at the Sapienza University of Rome in 1996. He is a member of SIIV (Italian Society of Road Infrastructures) He has been invited to several lectures and seminars worldwide. He is author of around 80 papers and reviewer of several journals as Construction and Building Materials, Journal of Civil Engineering and Management, Geosciences and so on. In the realm of the research on road and airfield pavement as well rail track design, his area of interests are sustainability development, sustainability construction, sustainability management, sustainability assessment, recycling, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Maintenance and Rehabilitation (M&R) management, circularity of road materials. He was awarded for both the Best Paper at second International SIIV Congress (2004) and the Best Paper at 4th International SIIV Congress (2007) For his Institution as Project Scientist Leader, he has conducted or is conducting the following projects:

  • SUP&R ITN - Sustainable Pavements & Railways Initial Training Network FP7-PEOPLE-2013-ITN, funded by 646.402,34 Euro (2013/2017);
  • AllBack2Pave - Toward A Sustainable 100% Recycling Of Reclaimed Asphalt In Road Pavements CEDR Transnational Road Research Programme Call 2012, funded by 116.278,60 Euro (2013/2015);
  •  PAVEMENT LCM - A Complete Package For Life Cycle Management Of Green Asphalt Mixture And Road Pavement CEDR Transnational Road Research Programme Call 2017, funded by 30.000,80 Euro (2018/2020);
  • SMARTI ETN - Sustainable Multi-functional Automated Resilient Transport Infrastructures European Training Network HORIZON20-20, funded by 1.032.245,28 Euro (2017/2021)
  • REMED - Application de l'innovation pour le développement de l'économie circulaire pour une construction durable en Méditerranée ENI CBC MED European Union, funded by 423.763,60 Euro (2020/2022).
