Professor Mostafa is an experienced academic with a demonstrated history (more than 20 years) of working in the higher education. He has multinational experience, starting his academic career in Egypt before moving to UK and then to South Africa. He is skilled in Pavement, Highways, Transportation, and Geotechnical Engineering. The Professor is also experienced in Research Management. His research focuses on “sustainable roads”. He is interested in applications related to environmental aspects and characterization of flexible pavement materials, with special reference to bituminous materials. Environmental aspects research include incorporation of recycled and/or waste materials in civil engineering applications with special interest in pavement. He has published more than 60 articles in journals and at conferences. Currently, is Associate Professor (Geotechnics and Pavement) and Academic Leader at University of KwaZulu-Natal- South Africa. He focuses on Sustainable roads research, which include but not limited to non-conventional materials in asphalt, pavement modeling, pavement life cycle assessment, pavement management systems, and smart transportation research areas.
